DHL has ordered digital outdoor parcel lockers from the mailing equipment company Quadient to roll out across Sweden in 2022.

The lockers have been designed to withstand the Nordic climate. Their software is based on an open network solution, which will enable several carriers, delivery companies and retailers to deliver into the same parcel locker.

The partners have predicted that the order will create more sustainable delivery services for business customers and consumers. Furthermore, the companies expect the digital parcel lockers to provide customers with more flexibility regarding when and where they pick up their parcels, thereby reducing the shipping cost for carrier and customer.

Jonas Lindell, managing director of DHL E-commerce Solutions, said, “The partnership with Quadient is completely in line with DHL offering greater flexibility for both customers and e-retailers. With a wider range of parcel lockers, we get closer to our customers and can in a simpler way be proactive in building up our delivery network. Quadient’s solution also meets the high demands we have on user-friendliness and simplicity in our customer interfaces.”

Niklas Lundén, vice president of Nordic sales and operations at Quadient, said, “This agreement further strengthens Quadient’s investment in the Nordic region with the goal of becoming the largest supplier of smart parcel lockers to carriers and retailers.”
