Evri Group has announced a £4m (US$5.3m) investment in a new fulfillment center in Barnsley, UK, as part of its ongoing network expansion.
The 25,000m2 facility, located less than 100m from the company’s existing Barnsley hub, is scheduled to open in July 2026 following a fit-out phase that began after Evri took possession of the site on March 18.
The new center is designed to integrate directly with Evri’s largest operational hub, enabling parcels to enter the network on an hourly basis. The company said this will support faster delivery options across its domestic and international operations.
The site will include automated sorting and packing systems aimed at reducing processing times, with parcels expected to move from order to dispatch within an hour.
A key feature of the facility is a late order cut-off time of 11:59pm for next-day delivery. Evri said this is intended to support small and medium-size enterprises by extending order windows and enabling faster fulfillment.
The center will also offer same-day dispatch services seven days a week and support distribution for services including Amazon Prime, as well as international shipping.
David Saenz, chief commercial officer at Evri Group, said the investment is aimed at supporting both large retailers and smaller businesses. “We’ve paired fulfillment technology with a direct connection to Evri’s domestic and international networks, meaning whatever the business need, we have a solution,” he said.
The development follows the launch of Evri’s first fulfillment center in Basildon and additional facilities in the USA, the Netherlands and Oman, as the company expands its global operations.
More than 150 jobs are expected to be created at the Barnsley site, contributing to local employment. The announcement comes after Barnsley was recently designated the UK’s first ‘Tech Town’, reflecting efforts to attract technology investment to the area.
Amy Willsher of Furocity, an Evri fulfillment customer, said the extended order cut-off and rapid processing would benefit businesses: “The ability to order at midnight, have the package in their network within an hour and be delivered the next day will be amazing for our customers.”
