Two-person delivery specialist AIT Home Delivery has opened a new depot in Enfield, north London, as part of a £25m (US$33m), 10-year investment to expand its final-mile capacity across the UK capital.
The 8,400m2 facility is 29km north of the City of London, close to the A10 and M25 freeways. AIT says the site’s position is intended to reduce stem mileage, improve route optimization and increase delivery reliability.
AIT Home Delivery is a wholly owned subsidiary of AIT Worldwide Logistics.
The Enfield depot will support a range of final-mile services including nominated-day and next-day delivery, room-of-choice delivery, assembly and installation, packaging removal and seven-day delivery.
The investment comes against a backdrop of continued growth in UK e-commerce, which is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 7.01% through to 2029. The UK is the world’s third-largest e-commerce market, behind China and the United States, with sales reported to have increased by nearly 30% between 2024 and 2025.
Gary McKelvey, vice president of global home delivery at AIT, said, “The opening of our Enfield depot is a key milestone in aligning our network with market demand. As e-commerce continues to grow, so too do expectations around speed, flexibility and reliability. By investing in a strategically located facility, we are not only increasing our capacity in London but also reducing mileage and improving delivery efficiency.”
Ryan Carter, executive vice president, Americas at AIT Worldwide Logistics, added, “London and the South East are among the most important logistics markets globally. Our investment in Enfield demonstrates a clear commitment to strengthening our UK network with infrastructure that enhances service performance, reduces operational inefficiencies and supports continued growth.”
