FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, has agreed to extend its partnership with Kuehne+Nagel as its official global logistics supplier for another three years, building on a first term that began in 2023.
Under the agreement, Kuehne+Nagel will continue providing logistics support for major FIBA global and continental competitions, including the FIBA Basketball World Cup events for men and women, to be held in Germany this year and in Qatar in 2028. The company’s support will also extend across the wider FIBA ecosystem, assisting national federations, local organizing committees, partners and other stakeholders, as well as initiatives led by the FIBA Foundation.
One milestone of the partnership has been the reduction of FIBA’s global carbon footprint, with sustainable logistics remaining central to the extended agreement. In 2025, Kuehne+Nagel also handled the transportation of the 88-year-old South American Championship Trophy to its new home at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.
Frank Leenders, director general of FIBA Media and Marketing Services, said, “We are delighted to be able to extend our collaboration for another three years, especially as one of the main aims for both parties from the outset was to develop a long-term collaboration. With increasingly complex logistical challenges across the globe, it’s important that we are able to count on a FIBA official supplier like Kuehne+Nagel, who have shown they can deliver for FIBA and for national federations with sustainable logistics solutions.”
Jorn Schneemann, global head of expo and event logistics at Kuehne+Nagel, said, “We are proud to continue our partnership with FIBA and bring our expertise to basketball events around the world. By managing the complex logistics behind international competitions, we aim to support FIBA in delivering world-class events and creating memorable experiences for the global basketball community.”
