Poczta Polska begins delivery of 230 cash-in-transit vehicles from MAN.
Sławomir Żurawski, vice-president of Poczta Polska (second from right), received a symbolic key to the bank van from representatives of the MAN company.

Poczta Polska has begun receiving the first deliveries from MAN for its planned fleet of 230 new cash-in-transit vehicles, part of a broader fleet modernization program covering the Polish postal operator’s cash logistics operations.

MAN is supplying the base vehicles, while consortium partner Inter Play is responsible for the specialized installation, including armor and equipment compliant with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration regulation of September 7, 2010.

The new vehicles vary by security level and intended use. Type A vehicles provide the highest level of protection and are used to transport the largest valuables. Type B vehicles offer a high standard of security combined with strong operational flexibility, and Type C vehicles, equipped with cash neutralization systems, can be used across a range of transportation conditions.

Poczta Polska currently operates close to 400 cash vehicles, which will be gradually replaced by the new fleet. The company said the increased payload capacity of the new vehicles will help optimize the number of journeys, streamline route planning and improve the efficiency of convoy teams.

Sławomir Żurawski, vice president of the management board responsible for operations at Poczta Polska, said, “Cash remains a crucial element of economic activity. Our role is to ensure its secure, efficient and scalable handling. We are simultaneously investing in process digitization, fleet development and operational infrastructure. The collection of cash vehicles is an important step in the modernization of our cash transport fleet. We are implementing solutions that improve security, operational efficiency and the work comfort of our teams.”

Claus Wallenstein, managing director of MAN Truck & Bus Polska, said, “The delivery of the first four MAN TGE vehicles to Poczta Polska marks the beginning of one of the largest specialized delivery vehicle projects in the history of MAN Truck & Bus Polska. In close collaboration with our partner, Inter Play, we are delivering a solution precisely tailored to the demanding needs of the safe transport of valuables for Poczta Polska – one of the leaders in the Polish market. The vehicles combine cutting-edge technologies, advanced safety and security systems and the highest standards of workmanship, ensuring maximum reliability in daily operation. We are very proud that these fully integrated vehicles are manufactured in Poland.”

The vehicle program forms part of a wider modernization of Poczta Polska’s cash logistics operations, which also includes upgrades to sorting facilities, replacement of cash sorters and the rollout of a new IT system for end-to-end process management, covering order acceptance, transportation, sorting facility management, settlement and reporting. The system will replace existing paper-based processes.

Poczta Polska provides cash logistics services for its own operations and external clients, completing nearly 200,000 cash transports monthly and processing approximately zł150bn (US$40bn) annually. The company operates 31 cash handling centers nationwide, supported by a team of around 2,500 employees in its cash protection and logistics department.
