A new facility in Birmingham has been opened by DHL eCommerce to address rising customer demand.
The 9,700m2 site in the UK’s Midlands region will increase handling capacity by 50% and serve more than 80 core routes from its strategic position in the UK’s logistics “golden triangle”.
The new facility operates on electricity alone and has 13 EV charging points, with an integrated rainwater harvesting system further bolstering its environmental credentials.
Stuart Hill, CEO of DHL eCommerce UK, said, “As demand continues to grow across the UK, having a strategic location in the Midlands that connects us to even more customers is crucial.
“The location, coupled with the sustainability credentials of the new site, means we will serve more customers, more efficiently and more sustainably.”
The new site is part of a €560m (US$653m) investment in the UK that DHL eCommerce announced in 2022 and follows the opening of its new 25,000m2 parcel hub in Coventry earlier this year.
