Australia Post has acquired last-mile delivery orchestration platform Rendr as part of efforts to expand its same-day and on-demand delivery services.

The postal operator said the acquisition will strengthen its technology capabilities and enable broader access to faster and more flexible delivery options for businesses. It expects to extend same-day delivery coverage to nearly 90% of the Australian population, while also introducing additional delivery windows, including evenings and weekends.

Rendr’s platform connects merchants with delivery partners in real time, using data such as location, service requirements and delivery speed to allocate shipments.

DHL Supply Chain has been appointed by Air France-KLM to deliver full ground handling services at London Gatwick Airport. The selection follows the launch of Air France’s new route between London Gatwick and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG).

Under the partnership, DHL will be responsible for all ground handling, including baggage operations, customer service, aircraft loading, dispatch and pushback, as well as cabin cleaning. The partnership underscores DHL’s role in supporting major carriers and expands its services at one of the country’s largest airports.

CTT – Correios de Portugal and DHL eCommerce have received unconditional approval from the European Commission for their planned joint venture, clearing a key regulatory hurdle for the transaction.

The approval, granted under the EU Merger Regulation, was the main external condition required for the deal, which was first announced in December 2024.

With this step completed, both companies will move forward with the remaining requirements to formally establish the joint venture.

Australia Post has launched what it describes as its largest national brand campaign to date, highlighting its role in connecting communities across all 2,655 postcodes in Australia.

Developed with Droga5 ANZ, part of Accenture Song, and supported by Australia Post’s agency partners, the campaign focuses on the cultural significance of postcodes and the communities they represent.

The initiative includes thousands of localized executions, each featuring a different postcode. These highlight moments of everyday life in communities across the country, from remote areas to densely populated urban suburbs.

Austrian Post has completed the acquisition of a 70% stake in Bulgarian e-commerce logistics provider euShipments.com for €55m (US$63.5m), strengthening its cross-border e-commerce capabilities in Southeast and Eastern Europe.

The transaction, which has now closed, also includes an option for Austrian Post to acquire the remaining 30% stake within the next four years.

According to Austrian Post, the acquisition supports its long-term growth strategy and expands its role as an integrated service provider for online retail logistics.

JD.com has launched JoyExpress, a dedicated express delivery service in Europe that will initially support its new Joybuy online retail platform.

JoyExpress, part of Jingdong Logistics, is being introduced in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France. The service will provide same-day and next-day delivery in major cities and will support the rollout of Joybuy, which is currently in the beta testing phase prior to its March 2026 launch.

The company said the network will operate from more than 60 warehouses and depots across Europe and will continue to expand as Joybuy enters additional cities.

DX Group and Rhenus Logistics have agreed a strategic partnership that will see DX assume responsibility for Rhenus’s two-person home delivery services in the UK and Ireland.

As part of the agreement, DX will become the exclusive delivery partner for Rhenus’s European Home Delivery proposition across the two markets. The transition will take place through a phased handover, with deliveries moving into DX’s existing two-person delivery operation. The companies say the approach is intended to ensure continuity of service for current customers.

Austrian Post has agreed to acquire 100% of Delivery Solutions, the Hungarian parcel service provider operating under the Sameday Hungary brand, strengthening its position in the country’s out-of-home and parcel delivery market.

Sameday Hungary will be integrated into Express One Hungary, a wholly owned subsidiary of Austrian Post. All employees will transfer to the new organization with their existing employment contracts unchanged. Customer agreements, including a contract with Hungarian online retailer eMAG, will also be retained.

Ireland’s minister for social protection and rural and community development, Dara Calleary, has announced that An Post has been awarded a contract to provide cash payment services on behalf of the Department of Social Protection.

The Cash Payment Services contract covers over-the-counter cash payments to welfare recipients through the post office network. The department says that around 30% of payments to its customers are currently made in cash.

The contract came into effect on January 1, 2026, and will run until December 2028.

Stord has completed its acquisition of Shipwire, a subsidiary of CEVA Logistics, with the deal closing on January 1, 2026. The acquisition expands Stord’s fulfillment footprint and strengthens its technology capabilities, particularly across AI-enabled order and warehouse management.

The deal adds 12 fulfillment locations to Stord’s network and increases its presence in the EU and UK. Stord will also retain access to CEVA Logistics’ wider global warehouse network through Shipwire’s existing logistics agreements.
