Royal Mail has introduced its 9,000th electric van, a milestone the company says strengthens its position as the operator of the UK’s largest electric delivery fleet. The latest zero-emission version of its red vans joins more than 120 already operating from the Colchester Delivery Office.

Royal Mail aims to reach net zero by 2040. Its electrification program began in 2017 with an initial order of 100 electric vehicles and has since expanded rapidly.

Royal Mail has launched its first electric cargo cycles, expanding its electric delivery fleet – the UK’s largest. The first 20 Minimal Pedal 4 cycles will be deployed this month in cities including London, Brighton and Cambridge, with further locations planned.

The cycles are manufactured at Minimal’s microfactory in West London. Their introduction marks another step toward Royal Mail’s target of reaching net zero by 2040. The company says e-cargo cycles will help reduce carbon emissions, improve local air quality and streamline delivery rounds by giving posties a dedicated vehicle rather than sharing a van.

DP World has deployed 35 electric terminal tractors (ETTs) at Jeddah Islamic Port’s South Container Terminal (SCT), expanding the terminal’s tractor fleet by more than 20%.

The rollout forms part of DP World’s US$800m long-term investment in lower-carbon port infrastructure at the Saudi Arabian gateway. The company expects the deployment to cut annual CO2 emissions from the terminal tractor fleet by approximately 20% compared to current levels, while improving operational efficiency for customers.

Royal Mail has reduced its carbon emissions by 31% since 2021, according to its latest Sustainability Report, published on July 2, as the company continues to work toward its target of net-zero by 2040.

Average emissions per parcel delivered fell to 164gCO2e, down 6% on last year. The company’s total market-based emissions were 1,085 KtCO2e in 2025-26, a 31% reduction on its 2020-21 base year and a 7% decrease year-on-year.

DP World has helped customers cut more than 160,000 metric tons of CO2 e from UK supply chains in under three years, driven by increased rail freight, lower-carbon trucking solutions and carbon inset programs.

The company’s Modal Shift Programme, launched in September 2023, has increased the share of rail freight at DP World’s Southampton terminal from 21% to more than 30%, moving more than 200,000 truck trips from road to rail.

DP World UK’s Low Carbon Truck Programme (LCTP) trial has registered more than 1,500 trucks, enabling hauliers serving London Gateway and Southampton to transition from diesel to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) at no additional cost under phase one.

Poczta Polska has begun receiving the first deliveries from MAN for its planned fleet of 230 new cash-in-transit vehicles, part of a broader fleet modernization program covering the Polish postal operator’s cash logistics operations.

MAN is supplying the base vehicles, while consortium partner Inter Play is responsible for the specialized installation, including armor and equipment compliant with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration regulation of September 7, 2010.

The new vehicles vary by security level and intended use.

DP World is expanding its Low Carbon Truck Programme (LCTP) in the UK with a second phase, called the Electric Vehicle Introduction and Transition Accelerator (EVITA) trial, offering members the chance to rent and test electric HGVs at Southampton Port.

The new phase builds on a pilot launched in January in partnership with the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Sustainable Road Freight and Project JOLT. Running from July until 2029, the program lets hauliers operate electric HGVs at costs aligned with diesel vehicles for 12-week trial periods under real-world operating conditions.

Diamond Logistics has expanded its UK network with the addition of a new Cambridge operation, as part of plans to grow to more than 40 sites by the end of the year.

The new site will be operated by SD Transportation Services and will provide businesses in central Cambridge with access to same-day, overnight and international delivery services.

SD Transportation Services was founded five years ago by Stefan Dolby. The company has since developed a presence in Cambridgeshire, focusing on same-day courier and transportation services for local businesses.

Austrian Post has fully converted its mail and parcel delivery operations in Vienna to electric vehicles and foot-based delivery, making the Austrian capital the largest European metropolis with entirely CO2-free last-mile postal delivery, according to the company.

The milestone was marked at a launch event at Heldenplatz on June 15, attended by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Austrian minister of economic affairs Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Vienna city councillor for climate, environment, democracy and personnel Jürgen Czernohorszky and Austrian Post CEO Walter Oblin.

Pošta Slovenije and the City of Ljubljana have launched a pilot project testing assisted robotic delivery in the pedestrianized zone of Slovenia’s capital city, marking the first real-world trial of such a concept in the country.

The trial began at the start of June and demonstrates how robotic delivery technology could support last-mile logistics in urban environments with restricted vehicle access. The initial demonstration involved a delivery along the route from City Hall to the Soline shop.
