New data from ePost Global indicates a sharp rise in international shipment rerouting during 2025, as ongoing trade and logistics disruptions continued throughout the year.

The company’s latest Shipping Intelligence Report, based on analysis of 23.3 million shipments across more than 100 carrier partners, found that rerouting activity increased by more than 2,400% between early 2025 and December.

Monthly rerouted shipments averaged 327 between January and July before rising significantly to 3,767 in August.

DHL Express has expanded its global shipping portfolio with the launch of a new service designed for heavy shipments.

The new Heavy Weight Express (HWX) service supports shipments of up to 1,000kg per piece and 3,000g per shipment, and is available across DHL’s network spanning more than 220 countries and territories. The company said the offering is part of its Time Definite International portfolio and is aimed at customers requiring faster and more reliable delivery of large consignments.

Amazon has launched a new service that opens its logistics network to businesses beyond its marketplace sellers, expanding its role in third-party logistics.

Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS) provides access to the company’s freight, distribution, fulfillment and parcel delivery capabilities to businesses of all types and sizes across sectors including retail, manufacturing, healthcare and automotive.

Amazon said the move builds on its existing logistics infrastructure, developed over nearly three decades to support its e-commerce operations and third-party sellers.

DHL Group and IAG Cargo have expanded their sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) partnership through a new multi-year agreement aimed at reducing emissions from air cargo operations.

The five-year deal, running through 2030, builds on a previous 2025 renewal and is will enable the use of around 240 million liters of SAF at London Heathrow Airport. The fuel will be used for DHL Express shipments transported on flights by British Airways, part of International Airlines Group’s network.

Australian businesses and consumers are a premium for express freight services that are frequently failing to meet delivery expectations, according to new data from freight management platform MachShip.

The company’s Freightability Report 2026, based on more than 100 million consignments across a network of over 500 carriers, found that 30% of same-day deliveries arrive late and 27% of next-day shipments miss their service commitments. By comparison, standard freight services recorded a lower failure rate of 19%.

DHL Supply Chain has been appointed by Air France-KLM to deliver full ground handling services at London Gatwick Airport. The selection follows the launch of Air France’s new route between London Gatwick and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG).

Under the partnership, DHL will be responsible for all ground handling, including baggage operations, customer service, aircraft loading, dispatch and pushback, as well as cabin cleaning. The partnership underscores DHL’s role in supporting major carriers and expands its services at one of the country’s largest airports.

DHL Global Forwarding has expanded its air freight capacity between Asia and Europe with the launch of new weekly services connecting key logistics hubs.

The company will operate Boeing 777F flights on routes linking Shanghai and Leipzig, as well as Hong Kong and Liège, aligned with the start of the summer aviation schedule. The services are supported by DHL Aviation assets and integrated with the DHL Express network.

According to DHL, the move is intended to strengthen capacity and reliability on the Asia-Europe corridor, where demand continues to grow.

DP World is launching Insetify, a carbon inset trial for ocean freight forwarding customers in Belgium, Portugal and Sweden, aimed at reducing Scope 3 emissions across European trade lanes.

From April 1, carbon inset credits will be applied automatically to qualifying customers booking ocean freight forwarding services with DP World in those three markets. Importers and exporters that meet the threshold will receive credits each quarter at no additional cost.

Under the trial, customers will receive Carbon Inset Credits at 100kg carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per TEU of containerized ocean freight shipped per quarter.

Public support for expanding hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks in South Korea is strong enough to outweigh the associated carbon reduction costs, according to a new study by researchers at Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech).

The research assessed 1,000 households’ willingness to pay for policies supporting the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell trucks, which are seen as a lower-emission alternative to diesel vehicles in freight transportation. The findings suggest the policy, which aligns with South Korea’s long-term climate and transport decarbonization goals, would be a socially profitable investment.

Emirates SkyCargo has set out its priorities for 2026 following what it described as a milestone year marked by fleet expansion, network growth and the launch of new digital and delivery products.

The cargo division of Emirates Airline expects to take delivery of up to 10 Boeing 777 freighters by the end of 2026, significantly increasing capacity and enabling further network expansion. The carrier currently operates 11 Boeing 777Fs, supported by five wet-leased Boeing 747s, and plans to grow its dedicated freighter fleet to at least 21 aircraft by the end of next year.
