DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight division of DHL Group, has acquired Aero Cargas, a freight forwarding company in Uruguay, giving DHL its first direct operation in the country.

Aero Cargas has more than 58 years of experience in South American logistics and a 33-year partnership with DHL Group, with expertise in air and ocean freight, industrial project logistics, land transportation, multimodal services, Free Trade Zone operations and pharmaceutical and regional inventory management.

UPS has announced that Kate Gutmann, executive vice president and president, International, Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions, will retire for personal family reasons, effective September 1. She will continue as a strategic advisor through March 2027.

Gutmann has spent nearly 37 years at UPS, and the company said she played a central role over the last six years in advancing its healthcare logistics business and guiding its international operations through recent changes in US trade policy, while delivering strong operating margins across her three business units.

DHL Group has completed a corporate reorganization effective September 1, following a resolution approved by its annual general meeting in May. The publicly listed parent company now operates as DHL AG, while Germany’s mail and parcel business continues to operate as a separate legal entity under the existing name, Deutsche Post AG.

DHL AG will handle strategic management, governance and cross-divisional functions for the group globally, while Deutsche Post AG remains a subsidiary responsible for domestic mail and parcel operations.

Australia Post reported a pre-tax profit of A$31.8m (US$22.7m) for the 2026 financial year, up from A$18.8m (US$13.4m) in FY25, driven by A$139.4m (US$99.6m) in profit from targeted property sales. Excluding those one-off gains, the company recorded an underlying loss before tax of A$107.6m (US$76.9m), which it attributed to the ongoing decline of its letters service, rising delivery costs and competitive pressure in parcels.

Group revenue rose 4.0% to A$9.83bn (US$7.02bn), with parcels and services revenue up 4.8% to A$8.01bn (US$5.72bn).

Cainiao has expanded its local express network in Mexico from 20 states to full nationwide coverage, the company announced on August 28. It has also launched local pickup services in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

The expansion builds on the company’s customs clearance capabilities and self-operated network in the country, where it has partnerships with cross-border and local e-commerce platforms, including Inditex, Mercado Libre, Temu and TikTok.

Cainiao vice president Shen Jianfeng said Mexico’s logistics market is experiencing growing and diversifying demand, with cross-border sellers seeking stable, compliant customs clearance and domestic sellers pushing for broader coverage and faster delivery.

Canada Post recorded a pre-tax loss of  C$277m (US$200m) in the second quarter of 2026, an improvement of C$130m (US$94m) compared to the C$407m (US$293m) loss in the same period last year, when the company was in prolonged labor negotiations with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

The union ratified new collective agreements in June 2026, running until January 31, 2029. Canada Post said the resulting labor stability supported customer confidence and an early-stage recovery in its parcels business, while lower operating costs also aided the improved result.

Finnish post operator Posti Group Corporation has been awarded a Gold rating in the international EcoVadis sustainability assessment, achieving its highest score to date of 86 out of 100 points.

The result places Posti among the top 2% of companies worldwide assessed by EcoVadis, which has evaluated approximately 150,000 companies globally.

EcoVadis assesses sustainability performance across four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Posti improved its performance in labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement this year while maintaining its existing level in environmental performance.

The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by Guo Dajin, vice governor of the Yunnan provincial government; Zhao Chongjiu, director of the State Post Bureau; Liu Aili, chairman of China Post Group Corporation Limited; Tai Shuk Yiu, postmaster general of Hongkong Post; and Lao Lan Wa, acting director of the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT Macao).

Australia Post has confirmed plans to reopen its Goulburn Post Office in the city’s heritage Auburn Street building in central Goulburn in late 2027.

According to Australia Post, the heritage building was temporarily closed as a safety precaution after contaminants were detected during routine testing in areas not accessed by customers.

Sarah Coe, general manager of retail operations at Australia Post, said, “Bringing a heritage post office back to life takes careful restoration work, and we’re committed to ensuring it is safe, modern and ready to serve Goulburn into the future.
